Shared Governance: Make Your Voice Heard by Decision Makers

Learning Outcomes: Understand the most effective ways to lobby, build legislative relationships, and network to achieve positive results on issues of importance to students

Leadership Solutions: Students want to make a difference on campus and in the world. Student government leaders typically want to make a difference for students on issues of importance to the campus community, but they don’t know how to have their voice be heard. This program will give them the tools they need to be successful in their efforts to have influence on those who make decisions!

Students have a voice and campus administration, faculty, and legislators at the local, state, and national levels need to hear it.  Recent events on campus involving concerns about safety and equal representation along with laws limiting the scope of student activities, involvement in campus committees and decisions, and educational requirements for campus organizations have shown that students have to provide a perspective, information, and knowledge to help shape decisions that affect them.

This program will share keys to effectively lobbying at all levels, regardless of the audience that your students hope to influence. Your student government leaders will get the benefit of Dave’s experience and knowledge as a lobbyist on student issues and his experiences working with campus officials and local, state, and national legislators.
